Achievements
What the college puts its name to.
Aldermere is small, so it is judged on specifics: the prizes it awards, the work its students get into the world, and the standards it refuses to lower.
Prizes & fellowships
The Aldermere Prize for Investigative Work
Awarded each year to the graduating investigation that best survives legal and editorial scrutiny. Judged by an outside editor and a media lawyer; the winner's work is published with a partner outlet.
The Vella Fellowship in Conservation
A funded placement on a Mediterranean site for one heritage student each year, covering the cost of survey equipment and travel.
The Reading Room Award
For the manuscript, script or edit that a tutor would put in front of a publisher without hesitating. Chosen by the publishing faculty, not by vote.
Work in public
Student investigations are published in partnership with Maltese and international outlets; heritage surveys are lodged with the national archive; screenplays are read by working producers. The college does not claim credit for work its graduates do after they leave — only for the standard set while they are here.
Where graduates go
Into newsrooms, museums and heritage bodies, production companies, ministries and small publishers — mostly in Malta, Italy, Greece, the UK and the Netherlands. We publish a destination list for each cohort; we do not publish a placement percentage we cannot audit.
